Obituary

Funeral services for The Honorable Robert W. Rawlins Jr. age76 of Ormond Beach will be held at 11:00am on Thurs. April 21 2005 in the chapel of Baggett & Summers Funeral Home.

Judge Rawlins was born in Daytona Beach on October 7 1928. In 1946 at the age of 17 he joined the U.S.Army and later branched into the U.S. Air Force where he was stationed in Guadalcanal. After his discharge he went to the University of Tampa where he received his B.S. Robert was about to enter law school when he was recalled by the Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed in Saudi Arabia. After this discharge he finished law school receiving his J.D. from Stetson University College of Law; and began practicing in Tampa. In 1970 he was appointed to be a judge and served until his retirement in 1989 as a Circuit Court Judge in Tampa. He then moved back to Daytona Beach where he sat as a Retired Judge until his passing.

Judge Rawlins was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of the Big Bull Hunt Club in Richmond Hill GA and loved spending time with his family.

Judge Rawlins passed away at his home on April 16 2005.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 45 years Laurie M. Rawlins; sons Robert W. Rawlins III of Daytona Beach and Trent Rawlins of Edonton Alberta Canada; daughter Michelle Snap of Daytona Beach and grandchildren Gracie Jean Rawlins and Zachary Snap.
