Terry Marie Rawlinson died of natural causes on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 , in Daytona Beach. She was born March 4, 1948 , in Houston, Texas, the second of three children for Woods and Virginia Rawlinson. In her early years, she lived in Panama and then New York. The family settled in Miami in 1963 . In 1966, Terry graduated from Miami Palmetto High School. She then attended the University of Florida, graduating with a degree in Sociology. After college, Terry worked as a probation officer with the Florida Department of Probation and Parole.
Working as a probation officer ignited an interest in the law and Terry eventually returned to the University of Florida, where she earned her law degree. In 1982, she was admitted to the Florida Bar. Terry found her life's work as a criminal defense attorney with the Office of the Public Defender in Florida's Seventh Judicial Circuit , where she worked until her retirement in 2005 . She was a tenacious and skillful courtroom advocate, dedicated to achieving justice for her clients .
In 1988, Terry married Jim Foxman, becoming stepmother to Jim's three sons. Terry was a gods e nd to the Foxman family . She and Jim were married for over 32 years, until Jim's death in 2020. In Jim's later years, Terry selflessly cared for him through a multi-year illness, showing great love and strength .
Terry was predeceased by her husband , Jim; father , Woods ; and sister , Sharan. Survivors include her mother, Virginia; brother , Kennard (Claudia); stepsons , David (Kelli), Matthew (Karen), and Adam (Bethany); grandchildren , Grant, Cooper, Maryn , Lila, Caden , and Lincoln; and niece , Kaala. A service will be held at Lohman Funeral Home, 1201 Dunlawton Avenue, Port Orange, Florida , at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 16, preceded by a visiting hour at noon. Memorial donations may be made to the Southeast Volusia Humane Society, 1200 S. Glencoe Road, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32168.
A visitation will be on December 16, 2021 from 12:00 to 1:00 PM with a Memorial Service at 1:00 PM at Lohman Funeral Home Port Orange; 1201 Dunlawton Ave Port Orange, FL 32127
