Mr. Rice was born on May 3 1928 in The Bronx New York. He moved to this area in 1990 from Brentwood Long Island New York after retiring from the New York City Police Department in 1973. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and the PBA of New York.

Survivors include his wife Louise Rice of Ormond Beach Florida; a son: Dennis Rice of Smithtown New York; four daughters: Patricia Swanger of Miller Place New York; Barbara O''''Kane of Brentwood New York; Ellen Camano of Forest Hill Maryland; and Diane Chesebro of Patchogue New York; a sister: Mary Murray of Pouquag New York; and twelve grandchildren.
