IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Teofilo Del
Castillo, Jr
June 2, 1941 – January 6, 2026
Dr. Teofilo del Castillo Jr., age 84, of DeLand, Florida, passed peacefully into the heavens on January 6, 2026.
Born in the Philippines, Dr. del Castillo attended Far Eastern University Medical School in Manila, where his talents extended well beyond medicine. He was known for his intellect, creativity, and charisma, contributing editorial commentary to the school paper—each piece often accompanied by his photograph. Even in his youth, he was remembered as a handsome, brilliant, and thoughtful young gentleman.
While Dr. del Castillo achieved many significant accomplishments as a Medical Doctor of Psychiatry, the greatest story of his life was his enduring love. In 1974, while beginning his medical residency in New York City, fate reunited him with a woman he had admired years earlier from afar during medical school—Aida. She would become his beloved wife of 49 years. Both physicians in psychiatry, their lives mirrored one another as if written by the stars, destined to heal, serve, and walk life's path together.
Their shared calling led them to DeLand, where they dedicated their careers to helping patients across Central and Northeastern Florida, treating mental illness with compassion through various medical programs. Dr. del Castillo retired three years ago and embraced life's adventures and challenges with great vigor, always surrounded by the love of his life, Aida.
He will be deeply remembered for his generosity, particularly toward his family in the Philippines, whom he supported through medical care, education, and philanthropic endeavors. His love of art also brought him great joy and fulfillment.
Dr. del Castillo is survived by his devoted wife, Aida del Castillo; son; Roy del Castillo, his daughter; Kim Livingston and her husband Craig, cherished fur babies grandchildren, Momo and Mochi; and close friends Ligaya Cortez and Romy Cortez.
A Catholic Mass in his honor will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church, DeLand, Florida. Friends may send condolences to the church at 359 W.
