IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sylvia M.
Vickrey
July 4, 1937 – May 29, 2024
Sylvia M. Vickrey, beloved wife, cherished sister, devoted mother, and adoring grandmother, passed away on May 29, 2024.
Born July 4, 1937, in Columbus, OH, Sylvia was the daughter of Robert and Dorine Linton.
Her loving family will forever treasure Sylvia's memory: Ron, her devoted husband of 67 years, her only sister, Peg (Bill) Kivell, her two daughters and sons-in-law, Vicki (Lance) McDougle and Micki (David) Harris, her four granddaughters, Mandy (Mike) Redmond, Sydney Harris, Shelby Harris, and Taylor McDougle. Also, her nieces, nephews, and countless friends across several states and other countries; all of whom she cherished and whose lives were enriched by her presence.
Sylvia lived a life filled with unforgettable experiences and many friends. As a young girl, she trained at the Toledo School of Ballet in Toledo, OH, and danced with the Toledo Ballet Company. As she and Ron frequently moved throughout the country with his service in the USAF, followed by his business career, Sylvia always found ways to quickly connect and become friends with new acquaintances, including volunteering with TDDY services for the deaf or devoting her skills to serving a large state medical center for children with special needs. She enjoyed flying and traveling with Ron in their private plane on flights throughout the USA, including Alaska and Canada. Their flights ventured to Central and South American countries and many Caribbean islands. Sylvia was active in aviation organizations and enjoyed making friends at fly-ins and conventions nationwide. After retiring to Port Orange, Sylvia shared years of fun and adventures with her family and many new friends at Spruce Creek Fly-in. She loved to sing and performed with One Voice, a Spruce Creek all-women's choir. Sylvia was a positive, outgoing lady. Her friends claimed she could make a lifelong friend in a grocery store line, bringing warmth and laughter to every gathering. Her spirit will live on in all who knew and loved her.
A celebration of Sylvia's life will be scheduled at a later date. If you wish, consider donations in Sylvia's name to charities of your choice.
