Obituary

Sylvia L. Carter 72 of Port Orange passed away peacefully on Tuesday December 14 2010. A visitation will be held on Tuesday December 21 2010 at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona from 5pm until 7pm. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday December 22 2010 at New Life Church 1625 Derbyshire Rd in Holly Hill. The Service will begin at 11am with Dr. James Brooks officiating and Rev. Victor Gooden presiding. Burial will follow at Daytona Memorial Park Cemetery. Sylvia was born July 19 1938 in Ormond Beach. Mrs. Carter was employed by the Volusia County School System as a teacher specializing in Physical and Special Education retiring. She worked for West Side Hurst and Spruce Creek Elementary Schools. She enjoyed sports basketball spending time with her family and being devoted to her children and grandchildren. Sylvia was a devoted parishioner of Tree of Life Church. Sylvia will be deeply missed by her family and friends but her life will always be remembered by the legacy she leaves behind.
She leaves behind her loving children; Victor (Agnes) Ingram Barry (Kelly) Powers- Carter John (Kristal) Carter grandchildren; Ryan Ingram Quentin Powers- Carter Aaron Ingram Ta'Lor Powers- Carter Brentin Carter; great grandchildren Mia and Ellee Ingram sisters Josephine Powers Frances (Fred) Worthern Jacqueline Huston and many extended family members and friends. Sylvia is preceded in death by her parents John Knight (stepfather) and Treasure Powers- Knight; sister Verbena McCloud; and granddaughter Mia Ingram.
