Obituary

Uhsemann Susan - Susan Uhsemann 88 of Port Orange passed away on Sunday April 19 2009 at Halifax Hospital. A celebration of her life will be held on Monday April 27 2009 at 2 pm at Lohman Funeral Home 1201 Dunlawton Ave. Port Orange FL. with interment to immediately follow at Daytona Memorial Park. The family will be receiving friends on Monday April 27 from 1 pm to 2 pm at Lohman Funeral Home. Susan was born September 26 1920 in North Bergen NJ where she grew up and graduated from high school. Following her training in business college she worked as a secretary for 9 years at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in N.Y.C. NY. Susan met Arthur Uhsemann at a USO dance in 1946. On September 27 1947 they were married. Susan proved to be a gifted homemaker and a talented seamstress. Though faced with many physical challenges from contracting polio in 1953 she never let these interfere with her life and overcame with an attitude of gratefulness and putting others' needs before her own. Susan loved God her family and the community of believers serving them unselfishly. From her personal relationship with Jesus Christ and her complete faith and trust in Him she gained strength to press on through each day. All who have known her have been inspired by the way she lived out her faith with courage joy and hope. She was a member of the Daytona Beach Christian and Missionary Alliance Church for 30 years. She was involved with the ministry of prayer.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents Matilda and Bernard Johnstone. Susan is survived by her loving husband of nearly 62 years Arthur Uhsemann of Port Orange; Daughter Linda Thompson (Drury) of West Jefferson NC; Grandson John Thompson; Granddaughter Victoria Stevens and Great grandson Austin Dru Stevens. Memorial contributions may be made in Susan's memory to Daytona Beach Christian and Missionary Alliance Church toward debit reduction 1250 Beville Road Daytona Beach FL. 32114 the phone number is 253-3751
