Sue Ogden Thompson Benton age 67 of Port Orange passed away on January 10 2013.
A memorial service will be held at The First United Methodist Church of Port Orange on Thursday January 17 2013 at 12:00 P.M. Her interment will follow at Daytona Memorial Park Cemetery.
Sue was born in Fayetteville North Carolina on October 28 1945 to the late Clovis and Effie (Ogden) Thompson. The family moved to Florida in 1956 and they later settled in Port Orange in 1958.
Sue became a child care coordinator for the United Methodist Church of Port Orange in 1993 and loved all the children she came in contact with. Sue was a huge NASCAR fan and especially of Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Dale Earnhardt Jr.
She is preceded in death by her husband Floyd "Bill" Benton; parents Clovis and Effie Thompson and sister Dorothy Gunter.
Sue is survived by her two loving daughters; Tammy Phelps husband Brent; Terry Gibbs husband Jack; beloved granddaughter Candy Pozzo fianc Dallas Barnett. She also leaves one very special pet "Tom the Turtle" which was found by her husband 32 years ago and he has been much like a brother to Tammy and Terry.
