Stuart D. Richmond, age 85, of Deland, Fl. passed away on August 2, 2015. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 7, 2015 at 11:00am at Lohman Funeral Home Deland Chapel, 935 E. New York Avenue, Deland. Family will receive friends on Thursday, August 6, 2015 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Stuart was born on February 15, 1930 in Gardner, Ma. He grew up in the Washington, D.C. area and subsequently returned to his mother's hometown of Johnstown, PA. where he graduated from Upper Yoder Westmont High School. Stuart served for 4 years in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Following his discharge from the service, Stuart relocated to South Florida where he began a career as a refrigeration technician. Stuart eventually acquired the company for his own and renamed it North Dade Refrigeration. When Stuart retired from the refrigeration business, he relocated to Broward County and became employed by the City of Lauderhill as a Code Enforcement Officer. When he retired from the city of Lauderhill, Stuart and his family relocated to Deland, Fl. During his young adult years, Stuart enjoyed boating and was an a member and commander of the Biscayne Bay Power squadron. Since he was a boy, Stuart was an avid model railroader and enjoyed building railroad cars and layouts, and participating in the model railroad shows at the
Volusia County Fairgrounds. Stuart is survived by his wife of 29 years, Elise Kraft-Richmond, brother Irwin Richmond (Emma), his daughter Allison Richmond, step-children Melissa Price (Jeremy), Amy Kraft (Sebastien Fortas), Michael Kraft (Niva Or Ruvio), and three precious grandchildren.
