Baron Steuben Cain (Stu) passed away at his home in Daytona Beach, FL, on November 11, 2019 at the age of 92.
Steuben was born in Lothair, KY, to Thomas Herbert and Martha Sergent Cain on May 1, 1927.
He was a World War II veteran, enlisting in the Army at the age of 17. He worked at the Breed Power Plant and retired from Indiana Michigan Power Company in 1989.
Steuben was an avid golfer and well known in the Terre Haute golfing community. He owned and operated Stu's Golf Course and Driving Range. He won the Terre Haute Men's City Golf Tournament in 1972 and was inducted in the Terre Haute Golf Association Hall of Fame.
Steuben was preceded in death by twin sons Ronald and Donald; his sisters Marion Marie Cain, Helen Combs and Jesse Frances Norris; and by his brothers Lloyd (Jack), William, Herbert Jr. (Gene), Lineville, John and Donald Cain. He is survived by sisters Phyllis Dorr of Ormond Beach, FL; Gay Nell Hamilton (Dan) of Gallipolis, OH, and Mary Ellen Nicholson of Manchester, KY; his son Jonah Thomas Cain (Wendy) of Terre Haute; daughters Linda Loudermilk (Wayne) of North Port, FL, and Paula Neal (Nick) of Leesburg, FL; granddaughters Tricia Moody (Andrew) of Clarks Hill, IN, and Sasha Pittsley (Jerry) of Grand Island, FL; grandson Matthew Cain of Austin, TX; great-grandsons Landon Moody, Judah Moody and Kypton Pittsley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Steuben was well loved and will be forever missed by his family and friends in Kentucky, Indiana and Florida. Although he lived a large part of his life in the Hoosier state, he will be returning to his home state of Kentucky with burial in Englewood Cemetery in Perry County, KY. To honor Steuben, the family requests that donations be made to Friends of Rea Park, Inc., C/O Earl Elliot, C.P.A., Treasurer, PO Box 3304, Terre Haute, IN 47803-3304; or to a charity of their choice.
