Stephens E. Miller - 12/19/49-5/16/09

Steve passed away on May 16th at the age of 59 after fighting a long battle with Leukemia. He was born December 19th 1949 in Amityville Long Island New York and moved back and forth from NY to FL throughout his childhood. He served in the US Navy in California during which he went on three tours to Vietnam on the USS Hancock. While serving in California he met and married Cynny his wife of 38 years. Steve went to work for Goodyear in 1972 and eventually owned three franchise stores in Watsonville CA. He moved his family to the Port Orange area in 1987 where he worked for S.R. Perrott for 12 years Daytona Beverages for 2 years was a contract carrier for the Daytona Beach News-Journal for 15 years and eventually went on to work for Firestone Tires in both Daytona Beach and Brunswick GA until he was diagnosed with Leukemia. He had four children all of whom he coached for several years in baseball basketball and soccer through the Port Orange Recreation Department and South Daytona Little League. He was a fierce believer in the strength of family and considered all of his children's friends to be part of his family as if they were his own kids. His heart and his home were always open to them. In addition to his wife Cynthia he is survived by four children Scott (wife Jamie) of Fort Walton Beach Joey (wife Megan) of New Smyrna Beach Robbie (wife Karina) of Jacksonville and Stephanie Zachry (husband Brian) of Lubbock TX also 4 grandchildren: Melanie Shelbie Elijah and Joe-Joe (LJ) all of whom he greatly adored. Steve is also survived by 3 sisters Mary-Ellen Evans Carol Mitchell Rose Reaves and 4 brothers Bob Art Dan and Frank. He was predeceased by his sister Winky and his parents Art and Rosemary Miller. He also leaves behind a multitude of family and friends in California Florida New York and many more too numerous to mention. Flowers will be greatly appreciated and the family also requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society and The Leukemia and Lymphoma Foundation so that cures can be discovered for so many people who suffer from the same illness. Donations to assist the family can also be made to The Steve Miller Memorial Fund at any Bank of America. Service will be held at Port Orange Presbyterian Church on 4662 S. Clyde Morris Blvd in Port Orange Fl. Wednesday May 20th at 1pm with Military honors to follow.
