Stephen "Steve" Olayos, 86, of Port Orange, Florida passed away at Indigo Manor on Wednesday, December 30, 2015. Born April 9, 1929 in Meriden, CT. to Stephen and Irene (Koczak) Olayos.
In 1984, Steve and his wife, Elaine, relocated to Volusia County. He served his country during the Korean War in the US Army in the Princess Pat Tank Division. He was a retired carpenter, and a member of the Masonic Order, Lodge 77 in Meridian, CT. Steve enjoyed gardening and working with his hands, and he also spent many years working at the Daytona Speedway.
He is survived by his grandchildren, Jenny Catalano of Port Orange, Jessica Murphy of Safety Harbor, FL, Gina Roberson of El Paso, TX, and Angelina Lakes of St. Petersburg, FL, as well as five great-grandchildren, Brian, Izzy, Isaac, Mia, and Jacob. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Elaine Olayos, in 2009 and his daughter, Cheryl Ross in 2007.
A Service of Remembrance will be held on Monday, January 4th at 11:00 am at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona; 1423 Bellevue Avenue Daytona Beach. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services.
