Stanley D. VanTassel 73 of Port Orange passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday September 10 2011. He was born in Riceville PA on February 8 1938 and moved to Florida in 1960. Working in construction he was a construction superintendent for local contractors and was in charge of building or remodeling condominiums on the beachside. He enjoyed watching NASCAR races and college and professional football games.
Stanley is survived by his wife Shirley and children: Stanley Jr. Chanute KS; Marianne Massie (Paul) Fayetteville NC; Rick (Denise) South Daytona; Leslie Friedland (Chris) Deltona; and Stacey LaPiere (Mark). Also surviving are step-children: Robert Steiner Port Orange; Lori Alonzo Jupiter FL; and Lynn Bayles (Jeff) Okeechobee FL. Stanley had 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter Sue Leeson; brothers: George Howard and Bill; and sister Gladys. His sisters include: Edna Beckwith (Harold) Lois Wetherbee Carol Kepple and Joy Lubbert all of PA; his sister Linda Hamm of GA. His brothers include: Gary and Gerald of PA and Victor of OH. Stanley leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Stanley will also be missed by his buddy his loyal Jack Russell terrier Jack. Visitation will begin at 11am on Saturday September 17th followed by a memorial service at 12pm Lohman Funeral Home Daytona 1423 Bellevue Ave Daytona Beach FL.
