A memorial service to celebrate the life of Stanley Stone 73 of Ormond Beach FL who passed away Wednesday May 13 2009 will be held Saturday May 30 2009 at 6:00pm at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond 733 W. Granada Blvd. Ormond Beach FL.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 5:00 to 6:00pm at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond Chapel. Born on August 16 1935 in Brooklyn New York to Samuel and Ethel Goldstein-Stone. He graduated from Spring Valley High NY. He served in the military in the early 50's on active duty in Europe. After his military duty he graduated with an accounting degree from NY City University. He is survived by his wife of 33 years Carol along with two sons and one stepdaughter and their spouses; Marc and Heather of Chicago Scott and Christine of Texas and Tracy and Vincent Haigh of Ormond Beach along with 8 grand-children. He will also be remembered by his cousins Linda and Sid Koretzky Shelley and Elliot Gersten in New Jersey and Shirley and Irv Freedman of Delray Beach FL along with their families. He lived a full life in South Florida for 35 years after moving from Spring Valley NY to North Miami Beach FL where he was a sports coach with the Optimist Club as well as their commissioner. He also was very active in the Boy Scout program with his sons. After a successful sales career in the wholesale paper business in South Florida he retired to Ormond Beach and has volunteered with C.O.P. programs with both the Volusia County Sheriff's office and Ormond Beach Police. Recently he volunteered at the Wellington Place as a regular bingo caller. He was an avid poker pinochle and cribbage player at the Ormond Senior Center and enjoyed traveling and visiting the local theme parks in addition to spending time with family especially his grandchildren. He loved to dine out frequently attend auctions boating and was an avid NY Yankees NY Jets and Florida Gators fan.
