Stamatiki "Matoula" Drakakis, 88, of Ormond Beach, FL, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2016. She was born on June 26, 1927, in Molaoi, Greece, to Panagotis and Marika Skandalakis. She was the third child and eldest daughter of 8 siblings. She came to the states in 1956 and settled in Atlanta, where she was a seamstress. She married Costas Drakakis and moved to Daytona Beach in 1961. They raised two children, Nicholas and Kalypso. She was the most giving, caring, and understanding person. Matoula carried the name of "the iron woman". Her example of perseverance was remarkable. Her strength was one that surpassed all. She was preceded in death by: her husband Costas, her siblings: John, Renos, Nicholas and Georgia. She is survived by son Nicholas, daughter Kalypso and siblings: Dionysis Skandalakis, Calliope Skoufis (George), Tasia Vrettacos and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
