Sidney H. Law 87 of Ormond Beach passed away on Saturday March 20 2010. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday March 26 2010 at 10:00 am in the Union Congregational Church 1050 Daytona Avenue Holly Hill. Interment will follow at Jacksonville National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Sidney was born on August 6 1922 in Springfield MA. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran and was a graduate of the College of Engineering at Cornell University Class of 1948. He was a member of Sigma Chi. Sidney was a retired Electrical Engineer and Director of Research for Northeast Utilities. He moved to this area in 1985 from New Britan CT. He was a member of the Appalachian Mountain Club the Cornell University Council the Cornell Engineering Alumni Board and the Board of Trustees of Wilbraham and Monson Academy. Sidney was also a member of Old First Church in Springfield MA. and First Congregational Church in New Britan CT. He was also a member of the Union Congregational Church in Holly Hill FL where he was in the choir. He was very involved in all of his churches and deeply loved them. Sidney was a "direct descendent from the Mayflower pilgrims". Sidney really enjoyed getting to know new people and also going to a favorite restaurant. He is preceded in death by his two sisters Barbara Greemore and Ruth Law. Survivors include his wife Betty-Jean of Ormond Beach his two sons Jim (Roberta) Law of the Netherlands and Tom (MiMi) Law of Germantown MD. his three daughters Ruth "Sandy" (Jon) Desilets of Groton VT. Barbie (Ed) Schinitis of Plainville CT. and Nancy (Karen Andersen) Law of Brooktondale NY his sister Mary (George) Goding of Rochester VT. his brother-in-law Gerry Greemore of Englewood FL and his sister-in-law Marjorie Mueller of Austin TX. Sidney has four grandchildren Kerry Lisa Jim and Char and six great-grandchildren. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in memory of Sidney to the Union Congregational Church 1050 Daytona Ave. Holly Hill FL. 32117.
