Ormond Beach
Shirley Jean (Lagowski) Warner, 83, of Ormwood Drive, Ormond Beach, FL, and formerly of Adams, MA, peacefully left us on January 21, 2022 at her home.
Shirley was born in Adams, MA on October 28, 1938, the daughter of the late Frank and Gladys (Mogul) Lagowski. Shirley and her late husband, Justin Warner, Jr., were married at the St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Adams, MA on September 20, 1958. They were devoted to each other throughout their 59 years of marriage.
A 1956 graduate of Adams Memorial High School, Shirley worked at General Electric in Pittsfield, MA prior to moving to Florida with her husband in 1974. She resumed working at General Electric in Daytona Beach, FL and retired from Martin Marietta/Lockheed Martin in 1994. She was an active member of the Ormond Beach Historical Society, the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution, the National Society of New England Women, the Halifax Genealogical Society, and the GE Elfun Society. Shirley was known as the family historian and documented a far-reaching family tree through her extensive research and travels. Her stories and efforts are treasured by her family.
Shirley is survived by a brother, Frank Lagowski and his wife Jeanette, of Adams, MA, a brother-in-law, Gerald Warner, and many nieces and nephews. Her sister, Sally Armata, and brother, Martin Lagowski, Sr., as well as her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gordon Warner and Doris Laeng, respectively, predeceased her.
The family would like to thank Shirley's devoted caregivers, particularly Olivia Hickson and Vivene Bonnick, whose compassion and friendship brought comfort and independence to Shirley through her last years. Thanks also to her many neighbors, especially Jerry Valcik, for their many acts of kindness and company during her illness. Lastly, a special thank you to Shirley's buddy, King, who always brought smiles to Shirley.
At Shirley's request, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105. Burial will be in the spring at Bellevue Cemetery in Adams, MA.
Arrangements are under the careful care of the Ormond Beach chapel of Lohman Funeral Homes. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at lohmanfuneralhomes.com
