Shirley L. Selby 80 Daytona Beach FL departed from this life on February 8 2011 and entered into the loving arms of Jesus in heaven where she will worship our Creator God for all eternity. At the time of her death she was a resident of Ormond In The Pines Assisted Living Center Ormond Beach. ""A Celebration of Life"" will be held on Sunday February 13 2011 at Lohman Funeral Home 722 W. Granada Blvd Ormond Beach at 3:00 pm with the family receiving friends one hour prior to service time. Rev. Robert Anderson will officiate. Shirley was born January 19 1931 in Evanston Illinois to Christ and Josephine (Kuba) Bauman. She grew up in Wilmette IL and graduated from New Trier High School in Winnetka IL where she met future husband Gene. She had a lengthy career in the newspaper industry with Hollister Publications which later became Pioneer Press. She began as a proof reader eventually moved into advertising sales with the Wilmette Life one of the many weekly publications produced by Hollister for the suburbs of Chicago IL and ultimately ascended to the Display Advertising Sales Manager. In that position she was responsible for a large sales staff and all of the display advertising for multiple publications. She was Past President of the Wilmette Chamber of Commerce. She also owned a ladies boutique in Wilmette for several years. She was an active member of the United Presbyterian Church of Daytona Beach serving as a volunteer in Vacation Bible School the Ladies Lunch Bunch and feeding the homeless at the Homeless Assistance Center. As an avid golfer she loved living at Pelican Bay and being a member of the Country Club where she served as Past President of the Pelican Bay Women's Golf Association. In her spare time she enjoyed music and was an avid reader. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Ronald ""Gene"" Selby and by a brother Christ Bauman Jr. She was a loving mother to her three sons: Mark Selby Dwight (Sheryl) Selby and Reed (Dori) Selby all of Ormond Beach FL; and devoted grandmother to her five grandsons: Michael Ryan Scott Brett and Kyle Selby.
