Shirley Jean Sauer age 85 of the Spruce Creek Fly In passed away after a long illness on Sunday October 9 2011. A funeral Mass in her honor will be held 8:30 AM on Tuesday Oct. 18; at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church 4625 S. Clyde Morris Port Orange. Mass will be followed by interment at Spruce Creek Fly In Cemetery. Shirley was born in Detroit Michigan and graduated from Royal Oak High School and St. Mary's Hospital Nursing Class of 1948 as an RN. Besides raising a family she served as an OBGYN Nurse at Pontiac General and Later Surgical Recovery Nurse until her retirement in 1983. She was a staunch Catholic and proud member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church. She enjoyed golf bridge and traveling and will be sorely missed. Her Legacy "If you want a friend be one." Shirley is survived by her husband of 62 years Alfred "Bruce" Sauer three children: Michael B. Sauer Stephen J. Sauer and Mary M. Frost and five grandchildren.
