Together Again
Shirley Lundgren 89 of Port Orange FL went to be with the Lord on April 26 and joined her husband John who she shared 68 1/2 wonderful years of marriage. A Memorial Service in Shirley's honor will be held May 9th at 4:00 pm at United Presbyterian Church 730 Beville Rd. Daytona Beach FL 32124. Shirley was born March 21 1923 in Holden MA; daughter of the late Harry and Agnes (Hamrin) Stedt. Shirley graduated from Holden High School. She was a stay at home mom and raised 5 daughters: Janice Wallen of Port Orange FL Karen Osborne (Dennis) of NY Arlene Stone (William) of IL Joyce Thebodo (John) of MA and Gloria Smith (Brian) of MA; 6 grandchildren: Robin Wesley Dennis Osborne IV Heather Chambers Scott Thebodo Steven Thebodo and John Stone; 14 great grandchildren: Courtney Luke Corey Christian Raymond Nicole Dennis V Daniel David Deborah Dawn Callie Oriana and Harding. And her dear friends: Shirley Downer Bill and Sadie Yeager and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her loving husband John her only sibling Evelyn Jacobson and 3 grandsons: Phillip Wesley Eric and Christopher Stone. Shirley was baptized and confirmed in Epworth United Methodist Church in Worcester MA where she met her soulmate and husband John Lundgren. Shirley was a devoted Christian and served as a deacon at the Millbury Baptist Church MA. She was a member of Epworth Methodist Church and joined the Naomi Circle a few years before moving to FL. She joined Highlands Presbyterian Church for several years before joining Southminster. She served as a deacon and worked diligently planning funerals and in charge of the food for receptions. When Highlands and Southminster joined together Shirley was awarded the Recognition of Service to God Award. Shirley was also a deacon at United Presbyterian and belonged to the Joy Circle and Lunch Bunch Group. She was also in charge of the Church Prayer Chain for several years. Shirley loved her bowling and bowled with Port Orange Retirees and Briar Wood Bowling League. She bowled up to her 88th birthday. Shirley and her husband John frequented Tim's Corner Restaurant a favorite neighborhood place. Our mother was adorable and loved by many. She loved giving away hand crocheted towels to friends and family.
