Shirley Ireland Knight died Wednesday January 23 2013 in Lake Mary Florida. Shirley was born in Smithburg West Virginia on March 2 1921to Flora and Booker Ireland. Shirley moved from West Virginia in 1959 to Tampa Florida. In 1969 she moved with her family to South Daytona Beach Florida and resided there until September 11 2008. On September 11 2008 she moved to Springhill's of Lake Mary.

Shirley was married to James Smith Knight for 54 years until his death in 1999. Shirley was preceded in Death by her husband and daughters Sherry L. Knight and Sheila Knight Sammons. Shirley is survived by her daughter Sandy Knight Nicholas son-in-law Alex Nicholas and grandchildren Nicole Michelle Nicholas Alexander Nicholas IV all of Lake Mary Florida and grandson James Michael Sammons of Salt Lake City Utah.

A funeral service for Mrs. Knight will be held on Monday January 28 2013 at 10:00 A.M at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona 1423 Bellevue Ave Daytona Beach Florida 32114. Interment will follow at Daytona Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Vitas Innovative Hospice Care.
