Shirley Jean Cassidy, age 85, of Orange City, Florida passed away peacefully surrounded by love and care on November 27, 2025. SHIRLEY JEAN CASSIDY
Born in Jackson, Mississippi. She was 1 of 4 children and at age 13 her mother passed away. She and her siblings were forced at that time to quit school and pick cotton until the age of 18 when she met and married her husband Melvin Sanders. They had 3 children, Marsha, Rick and Mary "Libby". She was married 18 years to Melvin where they lived in the country and was surrounded by cornfields.
She is survived by her cherished daughter Mary Hippchen "LIB" and son-in- law -David, 5 grandchildren, Nicole, Ryan, Austin, Kaitlyn and Christy. She also had her "adopted granddaughter" Dori and 6 great grandchildren whom she loved and cherished with all her heart and soul. She also had 2 very special friends ,Carl and Vicky that she spent countless hours with talking to and sitting on her back porch every day drinking coffee, talking, laughing and "having one" which was how she referred to having a cigarette. Her laughter was contagious, and she was always the life of the party. She was the core of our family and the love and laughter she brought to our family is immeasurable. To know her was to love her and she always made an impact on those she met. She was referred to quite often as a "REAL HOOT" she will be missed so much ,but the memories will live on in our hearts forever ! She enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, animals especially her goat Billy Bob who would come up to the porch 2 times a day and she would feed him bread, crackers or animal crackers. Hunter was the dog she was most found of and he would follow her everywhere  and he always had to keep Shirley in her sight...even in the bathroom

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. A graveside service will be held at Deland Memorial Park, Thursday, 1:00PM December 18, 2025.
