Shirley Jane Birdella Jones age 75 died July 24 2009 surrounded by her family. Her life will be celebrated at a memorial service in Michigan at a later date. Shirley was born in Mount Pleasant MI on October 1 1933 to George and Lila Belle (Phelps) Acker. She met and married her husband Joseph Franklin McMullen and they had 9 children. He predeceased her 06/07/1962. She married James Jones 11/12/1963. Shirley was a devoted mother grandmother and great grandmother. She spent many years driving school bus for Alma. She moved to Florida two years ago from Breckenridge MI. Shirley was an avid reader and shared with her grandchildren "that she had been around the world through her books". She loved sewing quilting and bingo. After she moved to Florida Shirley loved the beach and enjoyed simply looking out over the ocean waters. She is survived by her children; Annette (Martin) Morford (Sheila) McMullen Sheri (Clyde) Miller Alice McMullen John (Mary) McMullen Jo Ann Partington Michelle Jones (Craig Scramlin) Michael (Becky) Jones 21 grandchildren 30 great grandchildren her two sisters Mary Landess and Opal Danenhauer and many cousins nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband 2 daughters (Lucina Sheri McMullen and Georgina Jones) 2 sons (Bruce and Danny McMullen) 3 grandchildren 3 sisters her brother and her parents.
