Sgt. Michael James Miller age 40 of Orange City passed away suddenly at his home on August 3 2010. A funeral service in his honor will be held 3:00 PM Wednesday August 11 2010 at the Daytona News Journal Center Auditorium 221 N. Beach Street Daytona Beach followed by honors and services at Daytona Memorial Park. The family will receive guests on Tuesday August 10 2010; 4:00 - 7:00 PM at the Daytona Chapel of the Lohman Funeral Home. Mike was born at USAF Hospital in West Suffolk England to George and Lorna Miller he grew up in New Winsor New York and dedicated his life to serve and protect first in the US Army and then with the Daytona Beach Police Department. He graduated high school from Newburgh Free Academy in New York and received his Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Florida and when he was not at work he loved to play with his children tinker on his classic car and work in the yard. Everyone liked Mike. He was the type of person that stood behind you if you were right but was not afraid to tell you if you were wrong. He was a wonderful husband an outstanding father and an overall extraordinary person.
He was a member of the Daytona Beach Motor Division Daytona Beach Criminal Investigation Division and presently served as a patrol Sergeant. Mike was a man of honor loved by his family friends and fellow officers and will be dearly missed by all who know him. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 6 years Tracy Miller his children; Brandon and Rebecca Miller his broken hearted parents; George and Lorna Miller 2 brothers; Douglas and Bryan Miller his parents-in-law; Walter Sr. and Janice Parker the Officers of the Daytona Beach Police Department and many countless loving family and friends.
