Obituary

Samuel "Joe" Polito passed away August 30, 2014. Joe was the youngest of nine children born to Addie Clarkson Polito and Michael Polito. He was born in Philadelphia, PA. When he was 18 years old he served in Italy during World War II in the 88th Infantry Division, known as the "Blue Devils" and was a member of the 88th Blue Devils, Southeast Chapter until his death.

In 1953 he married his soul mate, Grace Blair Polito. In 1962 he brought his wife and two children to the Daytona Beach area. He was the owner and operator of Polito Tile & Marble Company in Allandale from 1962 until he retired in 1992. He enjoyed dancing, walking, biking, car races (Go Ford) and "do it yourself" projects. He was a friend to all who knew him.

He will be sadly missed by his wife Grace, children; Terri Jordan of Port Orange and Jim and Pat Polito of South Daytona. He was predeceased by his son Joey, his parents and 8 brothers and sisters. Along with his immediate family Joe is survived by over 100 nieces and nephews, Sister-in-law June Adams of Pennsylvania, Sister-in-law Doris Polito, Tampa, FL and Brother-in-law Dennis White, Newtown Square, PA.

A Funeral Mass for Joe is scheduled for 8:30 A.M. on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church. A fellowship reception to follow immediately at the Colony in the Wood Clubhouse, 4000 Clyde Morris Blvd., Port Orange, FL. Military Honors will be presented following the reception at the clubhouse. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Joe's memory to either Halifax Health Hospice or Council on Aging.

Arrangements are under the careful direction of Lohman Funeral Home Daytona. Condolences for the family may be shared through this online guestbook.
