Obituary for Samuel J. Mula
Samuel J. Mula, 98, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2021 after a long battle with Parkinsons.
Sam was born July 14, 1923 to the late James and Pauline Mula, and was the last of eleven siblings to be called home to the Lord.
Sam is survived by his loving wife of 75 years, Marie (Miller) Mula, and seven children, Carol (James) Steinmetz, Jim (Julie) Mula, Michael (Jan) Mula, David Mula, Sammy Mula (Cathy Mayo), John (Mary) Mula and Marcy (Robert) Frazier and eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Sam was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. He was a proud Marine, serving the country he loved in WW II, fighting in many of the Pacific battles including Tarawa, Saipan, Tinian, Okinawa, and occupied Japan. He was awarded a purple heart for wounds received in action at Saipan, Marianas Islands on June 15, 1944. Sam worked and retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Sam and Marie moved from Pittsburgh, PA to Port Orange, FL in 1979 after which many of his family followed. Sam was fun-loving and devoted to his family and his church, where he loved to call Bingo. He also worked part time at the Spruce Creek Golf Course as a Starter where he acquired many friends. Sam will be greatly missed by all but never forgotten because of the tremendous mark he has etched into our hearts.
