Samuel "Sam" Leb, M.D., 92. of North Miami Beach, FL passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 from a broken heart, approximately four weeks after his wife of 71 years, Muriel "Mickey" Leb, 90, passed away on Friday, April 28, 2017.

Sam and Mickey married on Christmas Day 1945 when he was 21 and she 19. They met years earlier at Flamingo Park with a baseball being thrown over her head and she kicking him in the butt. Cute story when they told it. It was a story that we all heard hundreds of times, along with many, many more stories and endless jokes told by Sam to anyone within earshot.

Sam served during WWII in the US Army as a Medic. After his stint in the Army, he would pursue his new love of medicine and was accepted to St. Louis University Medical School in 1948. In St. Louis, their first son was born, Stephen Leb, M.D., who passing occurred exactly two years earlier, May 24, 2015.

After completing medical school, internship and one year of residency, he went off to serve in the Korean War as a M.D. and claimed to be the original Captain "Hawkeye" from MASH. Not wanting Mickey to be alone, he moved her to Miami Beach to be with his parents where their second son, Michael (Fran) Leb, M.D. was born. When discharged, they moved to Memphis to finish his surgical residency and welcome their third son, Robert (Wendy) Leb, M.D. into the world.

Mickey and Sam had yet to settle down anywhere for an extended period until 1957 when they settled for good and opened his practice in North Miami Beach. Sam was a founding physician in the development of Parkway General Hospital. He practiced in the greater Miami area for over forty years and was well respected and loved by all. He was a gentle soul and treated his patients with open arms and respect.

Mickey raised three independent boys predominately by herself since Sam was a workaholic. She was the disciplinarian of the household. We kids always got a kick when she would threaten us with "WAIT TILL YOUR FATHER GETS HOME". Mickey spent most of her time volunteering for multiple charities and hosting parties at their house to help build his practice but mostly because, well, they liked to party.

Morning with their sons are six grandchildren, Lauren (Noah), Ian (Trisha), Alex (Alaina), Lindsay (Jean-Pierre), Eric, and David (Katie) along with four great-grandchildren, Jack, Rhys, Lily and Blake.
