On November 2nd 2009 Sam Edward Etheredge lost his courageous battle with cancer. He passed away at Hospice of Volusia Flagler Port Orange Care Center with his family at his bedside. He was very active in his community of South Daytona where he was a member of the Citizens Alert Program. He was retired from the Daytona Beach News Journal where he worked for several decades since July of 1960. He was predeceased by his beautiful wife Nell and both children Linda Etheredge Dittman and Sam Edward Etheredge Jr. Survivors include four grandchildren Tammy Dittman Liles(Brian) Michele Etheredge Smith ( Barry) Samantha "Lynn" Etheredge Doyle ( Shane) Robert "Boo" Dittman ( Jennifer) eight great grandchildren Jennifer Liles Matthew Liles Jonathan Liles Kasey Kucera Sam Doyle Amber Dittman Payton Smith and Riley Doyle daughter in law Susie Etheredge and son in law Bobby Dittman. Calling Hours will be Thursday November 5th 2009 from 5 pm -7 pm at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona 1423 Bellevue Avenue. Funeral Services will be held on Friday November 6th 1pm at Port Orange Church of the Nazarene 840 Taylor Road in Port Orange. Interment will follow at Daytona Memorial Park Cemetery; Where Sam will be laid to rest next to his beloved Wife Nell.
