IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sabra Ann
Sperlich
January 31, 1941 – April 4, 2024
Sabra Ann Burgess Sperlich, 83, of South Daytona, passed away on April 4, 2024. Sabra was born on January 31, 1941 in Bessemer, AL to parents Margaret Elizabeth (Betty) Granger Burgess and Eldridge Warren Burgess. After moving to Daytona Beach in 1949 she attended Volusia Avenue Elementary School, then graduated from Mainland High School in 1959. For the last ten years, she and her classmates meet once a month for lunch to stay in touch. In 1959 Sabra married Ed Sperlich and they had two daughters, Sheila and Phyllis who completed their family. While the girls were in Sacred Heart School in New Smyrna she volunteered in their schools library for many years. After raising her family, Sabra volunteered at the City Island library in 1979 and in 1980 she became a full-time staff member. In 1984 she transferred to the Port Orange Library where she was part of their first staffing and was there for 6 years. In 1990 Sabra transferred to the Library Technical Support Services as a supervisor and remained there till retirement. When retiring in 2003, Sabra always felt fortunate to have such a good working relationship with the staff and volunteers, having trained over 100 volunteers she felt each one was special in their own way. Sabra enjoyed being home, lunch with friends, music, movies, collecting angels and was an avid reader. Sabra was a member of The Church of the Epiphany Catholic Church since 1964 and after retiring volunteered at the Epiphany Thrift Store for 15 years.
Sabra was predeceased by her Father (Eldridge), mother (Betty) and sister Lillie (Margaret) Hatcher who are all waiting for her at the Door to Heaven.
She is survived by two beautiful daughters, Sheila Anderson, South Daytona and Phyllis Sperlich-Hare (Ed, her loving husband), Morgantown, WV; very special grandson Jayden, South Daytona; many nieces and nephews and all her close special friends.
