Ruth Patchen Scholl, 85, died Friday July 5, 2013 in Daytona Beach. A visitation will be on Monday, July 8, 2013 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona, 1423 Bellevue Ave., Daytona Beach, Florida. The funeral service will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 in the chapel of the funeral home with interment immediately following at Daytona Memorial Park.

She was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on May 24, 1928 to the late Anna Mashevsky & Johnny Patchen. Ruth was a caring person. She gave of her time as an air raid messenger in WWII as staff sergeant with the civil air patrol. She retired as a Captain of Bridgeport Auxiliary Police Department; Captain of Echo Hose Ambulance Corporation, and EMSI instructor in Shelton Connecticut.

For many years she served the American Cancer Society as Captain & for over 20 years she taught at the American Red Cross classes. She also worked for Sikorsky Aircraft. Ruth was President of A Better Life, and also National Sales Director of Ameriplan USA. She received a full ride to Yale Law School. Ruth also worked with Martin Luther King's Mother Ruby King at Goodwill Industries in New Haven Connecticut.

When she moved to Daytona Beach she served on the board of Village on the Green in Pelican Bay for over 10 years. Ruth was offered Major of the Daytona Beach Auxiliary Police Department in 1996, but due to her husband's illness, she had to decline.

She gave & cared for whoever needed her & could never say no. Ruth cared for her mother husband for over 50 years & son for over 17 years & she never complained. In the end her son Alan was at her side. She was truly God's Angel.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents Anna & Johnny Patchen Beloved husband of 44 years Tom Scholl & sister Jean Dale of California.

Left to cherish her memory are her two sons Alan Robinson of Daytona Beach Tom (Donna) Scholl II of Seymour Connecticut; daughter Susan (Ernest) Stark of Dallas Texas; grandchildren Adam & Gabriel Robinson of Columbus Ohio; Dore Scholl of Wilmington North Carolina Jared Scholl of Seymour Connecticut ;Allen David Tim & Brian Culmo of Dallas Texas; Kristen Crider of South Hampton New Jersey; many great grandchildren; & her niece Linda & Jim Kiley & family in California. Arrangements are under the careful direction of Lohman Funeral Home Daytona.
