Ruth H. Kertis, 87, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2014. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 15, 2014 from 2:00 P.M to 4:00 P.M at Lohman Funeral Home Port Orange, 1201 Dunlawton Ave, Port Orange FL, 32127 with a scripture service beginning at 3:30 P.M. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, June 16, 2014 at 8:30 A.M at Our Lady of Hope, 4675 S Clyde Morris Blvd, Port Orange, FL 32129.

Ruth was a member of the Pelican Bay Women's Club, a gift shop volunteer at Halifax Hospital, and a devoted member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church and formerly of Basilica of St. Paul. She was also a member of the Pilot Club of Daytona Beach. Above all, Ruth was known for her gracious nature by never closing her doors to friends and neighbors and she adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ruth is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Edward Kertis.

Those left to cherish Ruth's memory are her children, Judy (Steve) Alkire, Colleen (Robert) Batchelor, Colonel (Retired) Edward (Joanne) Kertis; sister, Colleen (Chick) Winship; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Ruth's name to Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129.
