Ruth Emma Katz, 91, of South Daytona passed away September 9, 2014. A Funeral Service in her honor will be held Sunday, September 14, 2014 at 2pm at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond. Family welcomes friends to gather at 1:30pm. Interment will be at Florida National Cemetery at a later date.
Ruth was born in Greenville, IL to Edwin and Frieda Paul. Ruth started her lifelong career in nursing by training at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, NY. Ruth advanced to being the head Surgical Nurse, running the operating room at Deaconess Hospital in St. Louis, MO. She, also, worked for the Federal Court System in Health Services in St. Louis for many years.
Ruth's passion was traveling with her beloved husband, Norman. They traveled extensively throughout Europe. She also enjoyed crafting and painting. Ruth was a founding member of the Port Orange United Church of Christ. Ruth and Norman retired to Florida to be near family.
Ruth will be sadly missed by her husband of 62 years, Norman Katz; by her nephew James Hentzel (Sherry); niece Judy Kosarek (Richard); her great nieces and nephews: David Kosarek, Douglas Kosarek, Rebecca Pitchford, Dr. Matthew Hentzel (Alma), Katie Hentzel (fiance Reginald Peters); by her 6 great-great nieces and nephews; and by many dear friends.
Arrangements are under the careful direction of Lohman Funeral Home Ormond.
