Ruth Harrell Cartwright

Ruth Harrell Cartwright went home to be with the Lord on Saturday June 15, 2017 at age 97. Ruth was born June 1st 1920 in Waycross Georgia to Cassie and C.W. Harrell Sr. She married Walter Everett Cartwright on September 24th 1938. When Everett returned from the war in 1946, they started Cartwright & Sons Heavy Equipment & Black Dirt Business here in Daytona, which was instrumental in helping lay much of the foundations of the area. Ruth was very active in her church, First Baptist Church of Daytona, and volunteered throughout her life in the school systems helping children to read. She also was involved in many of the Charitable and other ladies organizations in our community.
Ruth outlived all of her siblings, and leaves behind her only daughter, Judy Cartwright Carr, two grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at Lohman Funeral Home , Daytona Beach on Thursday July 20 at 2:00 pm with a gathering of family and friends at 1:30 pm until the time of the service. You may also share on-line condolences with the family.
