The world lost an amazing woman on August 10 2010 when the angels came and peacefully carried Ruth M. Beatty 85 home to heaven. A memorial service will be held on Friday August 27 2010 at 6 PM at Lohman Funeral Home 733 W. Granada Blvd. Ormond Beach FL 32174. Born on October 21 1924 in Tifton Georgia to the late William Isaac and Gussie King Marchant Ruth grew up in Lakeland Florida moving to the Daytona Beach area with her husband John S. Beatty where they made their home and raised their family. Ruth's passion was being actively involved with mentally and physically challenged children where she was instrumental in the establishment of special education classes in the public school system in the 1950's. Ruth was also a floral designer owning her own business (Ruth's Flowers) in the former Halifax Shopping Center in Holly Hill. After closing her business she continued to help local florist in the area at holiday time and worked for Work Oriented Rehabilitation Center (WORC) Group Home as a group home supervisor until her retirement in 2003. Anyone who knew Ruth would agree she was truly an angel on earth with her loving caring and giving nature of always putting others before herself. She will be missed tremendously by those left to cherish her memory. Ruth is survived by daughter Martha Beachell and her husband Lawrence son Michael E. Beatty and wife Sylvia grandchildren David J. Kiel Gary W. Kiel Jr. and wife Lori great-grandchildren Cameron Walker Molly Kiel Brendan Kiel and Chase Garzio brother John (Jay) E. Marchant Lakeland Fl sister Janelle Orrico and husband Charles Orrico Springfield Va. Along with a host of nieces nephews and friends. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband John S. Beatty in 1974 and most recently on June 25 2010 her brother Virgil G. Marchant of Tifton Ga.
