Russell Lee Shuping, 78, beloved husband and father, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 24 th at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center in Daytona Beach due to complications of diabetes. Russell was a gentle, quiet man who loved his family and home. He was an Industrial Engineer and began his career in Weirton, WV. Russ worked for many years in Asheville, NC, then Shreveport, LA and retired from Lane Furniture in Hickory, NC in 2003. He then moved to Daytona Beach, FL where he spent the remainder of his life, "living in paradise" as he would say, while sitting on the screen porch enjoying the view. He graduated from Valdese High School and excelled in school and earned several degrees but always loved his jobs in engineering the best.

Russ was the son of the late Roy (Tot) and Ollie (Carswell) Shuping and is survived by his wife, Anne; his son Larry Shuping of Daytona Beach; his daughter, Amelia Embley (Scott) of River Ridge, LA; his two grandchildren, Ainsley and Graham; his brother Bob Shuping (Brenda) of Valdese, NC; his sister Pat Shuping Abee of Valdese, NC and his nieces, Glencia, Beth and Betsy. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday January 12, 2019 in the Fellowship Hall of the East Valdese Baptist Church, 101 Eldred St, NE, Valdese, NC 28690.
