Ruby Bragg Rainwater went to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, August 11 at 103 years of age. She passed at the home of her great niece and caretaker, Lisa Stewart in Ormond Beach. Ruby was born in Grag, Georgia on March 8th, 1912 to Ira Washington and Lydia Smith Bragg. She was a graduate of Jones County H.S. and attended the Georgia Academy of Business in Macon. After her studies, Ruby met and married Lester F. Rainwater in 1932 and moved to the Daytona Beach area many years ago. Mrs. Rainwater was a loving and devoted wife and homemaker and was a member of The First Baptist Church of Daytona for over 58 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 53 years, 5 brothers, her one sister, 1 niece and nephew and 1 great nephew. Those left to cherish Ruby's memory include her 9 nieces, Anne Stewart Bohr, who also assisted with Ruby's needs, Betty Lowe, Sue McCartney, Martha Winn, Patricia Glenn, Kim Jones, Cris Forrester, Sandra Charles, and Lydia Clamser; 7 nephews, Bobby Bragg, Richard Bragg, Tommy Bragg, Michael Bragg, Alan Bragg, Johnny Bragg, and Ennis Bragg; many great nieces and nephews, and a host of dear friends. A funeral service, with her nephew Michael Bragg officiating, will be held for Ruby on Saturday, August 22nd, at 11 a. m., at The Lohman Funeral Home in Daytona Beach. A visitation for friends and family will begin one hour prior.
