Roy L. Harper Jr. 78 of Ormond Beach passed away on February 22 2010 at his home with his loving family. The visitation will be held on Thursday February 25th at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond Beach between the hours of 2-4 & 6-8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday February 26th at 10:00 am at Prince of Peace Catholic Church officiating Fr. Bill Zamborsky. Interment will follow at Volusia Memorial Park Cemetery Ormond Beach. He was born January 14 1932 in Worcester MA and moved to the area in 1987 from West Boylston MA. Roy was a business owner of Harper Data Processing and Saxon's Restaurant in MA. He and his wife Marie entertained for over forty years where Roy played honky tonk piano while Marie played banjo. He was co-owner of Steve Harper painting for the past 20 years. He Graduated from Clark University in Worcester MA a US Army veteran of the Korean War serving from 1952-1954 where he was awarded the Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star. He enjoyed working in the yard and spending time at the American Legion Post and with his family. He was a member of the VFW Post # 1590 and a lifetime member of the American Legion Post # 267 Fraternal Order of the Eagles 3800. He also enjoyed bird watching and being entertained by squirrels. Roy is survived by his wife of 52 years Marie Harper of Ormond Beach; daughter Lynne A. Seeber and her husband Brian of Ormond Beach sons Steven R. Harper and his wife Meggan Ormond Beach; Richard T. Harper and his wife Julie of Ormond Beach and Ronald E. Harper and his wife Donna Highlands Ranch Colorado and 11 grandchildren.
