Rosemary Jane Upton 78 of Daytona Beach peacefully passed away on Thursday December 15 2011 at Indigo Palms. Rosemary's celebration of life will be held on Tuesday December 20th at 4pm at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond 733 W. Granada Blvd. Ormond Beach FL The family will receive friends on Monday Dec. 19th from 5-7pm and on Tuesday Dec. 20th from 3-4pm preceding the service. Rosemary was born April 8 1933 in Youngstown Ohio to Donald and Grace (Whan) Mason. She relocated along with her husband Hugh to Volusia County in 1981 from Rochester Michigan. She and Hugh are the owners of the beautiful Sunset Harbor Yacht Club. Over the years she and her husband shared in the development and operation of various businesses in Michigan and Florida. She was a member of the Christ Community Church Daytona Beach Past President of American Family Association of Volusia County a member of the Republican Women Pen Women she sat on the board of directors with "Winning Women for Christ was a staff member for Florida Christian Writers Conference and was Past President of "OWLS" Ormond Writer's League. Rosemary's passion was writing; she published three novels many poems and numerous short stories. She led a class known as "The Critique Club"; it was there that she taught and inspired future writers. Rosemary was also a Biblical Scholar; she earned her Master's Degree in Biblical Studies from Christian International. She is survived by her husband of fifty-nine years Hugh Upton Daytona Beach her son Stephen Upton Daytona Beach her daughter Christen (Kenneth) Lewis Farmington Hills Michigan brothers Donald Mason Anderson Indiana and Robert Mason Dallas Texas by her sister Carol Parker Greenville S. Carolina three grandchildren Daniel Lundy Mandy Upton and Michael Upton her great-granddaughter Lily Ann Upton two sister-in-laws Juanita Poffenbarger and Earlene Herman.
