Rose Persis, 96, of Daytona Beach, FL. passed away Friday May 6, 2016. Rose was born in Brooklyn, NY. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, George J. Persis.

Rose and George lived in Boston, MA, where they both worked in the beauty industry. Rose was a manicurist and George was a beautician. In 1957, to escape the cold, they headed to Florida where they discovered Daytona Beach. Rose fell in love with the beach so they decided to make Daytona their home. Together, they opened the Vogue Beauty Salon downtown on Beach Street.

The Persis house was always a gathering place for friends of Rose and George and well as their children's friends. After high school their son Carl joined a rock band and Rose generously allowed them to practice in the garage. She even pretended to like the music.

Although Rose loved entertaining, she was quick to point out she was the only Italian grandmother who didn't like to cook. Being in the beauty business, Rose enjoyed giving beauty tips on hair and make-up. She was ready at a moment's notice to give a professional manicure.

While visiting her Atlanta family in the spring, Rose enjoyed sitting in her daughter Linda's beautiful gardens. She would comment, "This is what heaven must be like." Rose enjoyed being a homemaker and was a meticulous housekeeper. All her life, she was an extremely generous person always taking time to help others. However the most important thing in Rose's life was being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her family meant the world to her and she meant the world to them. Rose spent the last years of her life living with her daughter Denise and son-in-law Skip, where she always enjoyed giving out candy on Halloween night.

When asked the secret to her long and healthy life, Rose would say,"Have a positive attitude, forget exercise and vitamins, put a lot of cream on your face and eat whatever you want."

Rose is survived by her son Carl Persis (Susan), daughters Linda Persis (Bill Lee), and Denise Jabaly (Skip), grandchildren Audra Bennett (David), Paul Jabaly (Palmer), Mark Jabaly (Lauren), Josh Lee, Garrett Lee, Karen Persis (John Sheehan) and A. Clark Cone (Mallory) also great grandchildren Jillian Bennett, Jack Persis Sheehan and Doyle Cone.
