Rose Herceg Melody 90 of Holly Hill and formerly of Paisley Florida passed away August 15 2013. A Memorial Mass will be held in her honor at St Peters Catholic Church 359 West New York Avenue Deland Florida on Saturday August 24 2013 at 10:00 a.m.
Rose was born in Szekesfehervar Hungary to Ferenc and Maria Szklenar the tenth of eleven children. In Hungary she met and married Francis Melody her husband for 60 years. They immigrated to New York in 1956. Together Rose and Francis started an import/export store in New Jersey. They traveled around the country working for different families. Rose worked as a nanny and personal chef in Maine Arizona and Massachusetts.
In 1978 Rose and Francis settled down in Florida to be near their son. Rose especially enjoyed gardening having a vegetable garden for 34 of the 35years she was in Florida. She loved cooking and baking for her family. Carnations were her favorite flower. Rose was a seamstress and could often be found sewing or knitting. Rose will be remembered as a devout Catholic and attending Mass every Sunday.
Rose was predeceased by her husband Francis in 2004 and by her ten siblings. She is survived by her son Francis Melody of Holly Hill by her grandson Francis Melody also of Holly Hill by her granddaughter Elizabeth Bank and grandson-in-law Richard Bank of Atlanta GA and by her great-grandchildren Sabrina Bank and Noah Bank of Atlanta GA.
