Obituary

Ronald Gordon Ziegler, 62, of Bunnell passed away at home November 9, 2013. Family welcomes friends to a visitation in his honor Friday, November 15, 2013 at Lohman Funeral Home Palm Coast from 5pm to 7pm. Funeral Service will be Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Lohman Funeral Home Palm Coast Chapel at 11:00am, with burial immediately following at Espanola Cemetery.

Ron was born in Buffalo, NY to Charles and Elizabeth (Elve) Ziegler. Ron's parents eventually retired to Ormond Beach. Ron moved back in the late 60's to be close to his family. Here he met and fell in love with Jackie Murray. They married and welcomed Jackie's two daughters and Ron's two sons into their new family.
Ron worked as a police officer for the Volusia County Sheriff Department during the 70's. He then became a private detective in the area. Ron's career developed as a painting contractor, as he owned his own business for many years.

When not working, Ron was passionate about shooting and hunting. He was a member of the Flagler Gun Range and Archery Club and Iron Flats Hunting Club. He loved socializing and talking with the guys at the club. Ron loved fishing, wood working, and caring for his yard. He also enjoyed collecting knives. Ron's true passion was his family and friends. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Ron will be sadly missed by his wife of 21 years, Jackie Ziegler; by his sons Ronnie Ziegler and Adam Ziegler; by his daughters Jennifer Jenkins (husband Steve) and Ashley Gonzalez (husband Doug); by his eight grandchildren; by his brother Chuck Ziegler, and sisters Betty Tetreault and Debbie Roddy (husband Rick), by his sister-in-laws Elaine Barber and Lydia Ziegler; by many nieces and nephews, especially Laura Cooke and Perry Ziegler, and by his extended family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ron's name to Lung Cancer research at www.lung.org/donate/. Arrangements are under the careful direction of Lohman Funeral Home Palm Coast.
