Obituary

Ronald Joseph Coolbaugh, of Port Orange, Florida, passed away on Monday, January1, 2024 at the age of 87. He was born June 20, 1936 in Duryea, Pennsylvania.

Early in life he found a passion for playing the drums. After graduating from West Side High School in Newark, New Jersey, where he was a drummer in the school band, Ron enlisted in the United States Air Force and was assigned to various bands over the next 26 years as a drummer. Bands were: Dance Band, Jazz Combo, Marching band and at Robins AFB, he played in a top 40 ensemble-Power to Spare. Duty Stations were: Holloman AFB New Mexico in the 1960's, Patrick AFB Florida in the 1960's and 70's, Hickam AFB Hawaii in the 1970's and Robin's AFB Georgia in the 1970's and 80's. He had numerous Temporary Duty Assignments throughout the US and Caribbean. He was highly respected as a musician among his peers and performed with many talented musicians in his career in the Air Force. Life long friendships were made at every duty station. He retired from the Air Force as a Master Sergeant.

Predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Celestia Coolbaugh. Married Betty Eldridge May 1, 1965. He is survived by his three children, Eric, Randy and Ronda; two sisters, Arleine Colonna and Lurana Coolbaugh; three Grandsons, five Great Grandchildren, and four Great Great Grandchildren. He will be missed dearly.
