Ronald Edward Anderson passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 after living courageously with Parkinson's Disease. He was 85 years old.

Ron was born on August 5, 1937 to Madeline (Janeczek) and Edward Axel Anderson in Webster, Massachusetts where he attended elementary school and graduated from Bartlett High School.  Ron spent many summers boating around Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg. He loved the water and happily adopted Cape Cod as home when his parents and brother, Wayne, later moved there. He married his high school sweetheart, Carol Ann Cournoyer, also of Webster. Ron earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Connecticut in Storrs, CT and served in the Army Reserves. He was a distinguished executive with Norton Company of Worcester, MA for more than 35 years - beloved by co-workers and clients alike - and the recipient of many exceptional service awards. With Norton, Ron and his family moved to Glenview, IL, Omaha, NE, Peoria, IL and Simsbury, CT.  Wherever they lived, Ron would be sure to find the nearest body of water for a boating opportunity.

During retirement, Ron and Carol split their time between residences in Maine and Florida.  A talented craftsman, Ron followed in the footsteps of his father designing and developing several properties in Maine - oceanfront properties proved to be his favorites. He most always could be found "on deck" taking in a beautiful view of the water.

Ron and Carol were married for 67 years. He was a devoted husband and father to Cynthia Anderson Slamp (husband James) of Cohasset, MA; Susan Anderson Keene (husband Mark) also of Cohasset and Kristen Anderson Sundberg (husband Scott) of Tampa, FL.  He delighted in his five grandchildren: Kaye and Nick Slamp; Matthew and Samuel Keene and Beck Sundberg.  Along with his parents, Ron was pre-deceased by his beloved brother, Wayne Edward Anderson (surviving wife, Patricia Jones Anderson). He was an enthusiastic fan in every respect for his family on the field and at home - cheering everyone on in their many activities and endeavors. Ron was a gentle giant in stature and heart and would do anything for his family - including many cherished nieces, nephews and friends who quickly became like family.

Ron possessed a quick dry wit reminiscent of comedic legends of yesteryear - our very own Johnny Carson. Like his beloved Swedish father, he was a bit of a prankster and hard to evade when you were his selected target. Ron truly embraced his Swedish roots - along with other traditions - strong coffee, red wine and a little something sweet were the necessities of his every day. His Glogg, however, was not so hot.

Ron developed a love for Country and Western music while traveling throughout the Midwest for years. Ultimately those simple lyrics and the people he met there came to define his life philosophy - a focus on authentic people, strong work ethic, sense of humor and simple pleasures. His social interactions were always marked by an old world politeness, courtesy and decency. People often said he was a true gentleman - just wonderful - that he was. His was a life without pretense or arrogance. He treasured his pet dogs through the years - it was not uncommon to have a conversation with him while his face was being licked clean. The UCONN Huskies were another canine passion of his - he was a Super Fan beyond measure. Ron was rewarded for a lifetime of cheering when the Huskies won the Big East Championship this past spring. We like to think they did it for him. Ron was also an avid fan of any team hailing from Boston.

Ron loved landscaping - claimed he had minored in it at UCONN - that's pending fact check.  He spent any spare time he had sculpting his outdoor environments. He never met a rock or tree he didn't like - especially if they were "freely" available in local forests. He scoured beaches with grandchildren endlessly searching for wishing rocks and heart stones. Being by the water with family was his happy place. Ron's favorite movie was Tender Mercies - his life was filled with them.  He is forever in our hearts.

A private family service will be held at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond to honor a life well lived.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks for consideration of a tribute gift in the name of Ronald Edward Anderson to the Parkinson's Foundation or Halifax Humane Society of Ormond Beach, FL. Ron's family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to his exceptional caregivers - Kylei, Lez, Elsie, Joanna, Marie and Karen at Coquina Ormond Beach as well as Anna at Halifax Health Hospice.
