Roger Neil Small, of Port Orange, Florida, passed away at 90 years of age on August 12, 2021, in Daytona Beach, Florida.
He was born May 8, 1931, in Nashville, Illinois, to Robert and Edna Small. His wife of 67 years, Betty L. Small of Port Orange, Florida, survives him. Also surviving are his three children and their spouses: Bradley W. Small (Janell Small) of Hoyleton, Illinois; Douglas G. Small (Margaret White-Small) of Longboat Key, Florida; and Rhonda G. Small-Oakes (Kevin Oakes) of Salt Lake City, Utah. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Heather Miller (Larry Miller) of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; Dr. Alison Oakes (Jonathan Larsen) of Salt Lake City, Utah; Daniel Small, of Los Angeles, California; Dr. Joshua Oakes, of Denver, Colorado; Dr. Anna Allmann (Austin Allmann); and Michael Small, of Plainfield, Illinois. He was also blessed with five great-grandchildren, who also survive him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his sister, Juanita Rogers, and brother, Dale Small.
During his lifetime, he was the owner of the Shoe Mart, in Nashville, Illinois, and later served as a Sociology Instructor both at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois, and at John A. Logan College in Carterville, Illinois.
He was known for his great sense of humor. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his wife and family.
