In Loving Memory of Roger Rey
Roger E. Rey, 87, was born on October 2, 1938 in Lansing, Michigan. He passed on September 22, 2026 with his family by his side.
He proudly served his country in the United States Navy for three years. He was aboard a destroyer ship, working in the boiler room. He traveled to the Mediterranean Sea, Turkey, Spain, Naples Italy, San Juan P.R. special operations around Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
After the service, he was a welder at Douglas Steel in Lansing, Michigan and then was hired in at the Board of Water & Light power plant, where he worked for over 32 years.
But to those who knew him, he was much more then a sailor & power plant worker. He was a beloved Husband for 63 years to Mary Rey, father, grandfather, great-grandpa, and a man that loved and served his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
He enjoyed playing golf and bowling on work & couple leagues with his wife, and woodworking, bike riding trips with his wife from Lansing to the Mackinaw Bridge.
Roger was apart of the ABC & FaithRiders motorcycle ministry at First Baptist Church, Daytona Beach. He was always compassionate to love others and tell people Jesus loved them. He went to many bike rallies, worked the tents at Daytona Speedway during Bike Week presenting the gospel with other bike groups.
He will be remembered for his love for his family, boldness of his faith in Christ, gentleness and sweetness that grew over the years,
Roger is survived by; Father to : Patrick Rey (Karri) and Dawn Warren (Steve); Grandfather to; Jason Warren (Annie), McKayla Rey (Eric), Erica Schroeder (Joe), Tyler Rey (Andrea); Great-Grandfather to: Jensen, Ean, Jace, Lycette & Lyric; Sister-in-law & Brother-in-law; Elaine Linebaugh, John Linebaugh (Sharon); Uncle to; Zachary Linebaugh, Jay Linebaugh (Evie); Great Uncle to; Indi, Rudy & Natalia
He will be deeply missed by his family along with his family from church, friends and neighbors.
Celebration Of Life will be held at; First Baptist Church Daytona, 10 First Baptist PKWY, Daytona Beach, October 24th, 2026 at 11:00a.m.
