Roderick Spencer Brown of Palm Coast, Florida, passed away at his residence on November 17, 2020, surrounded by family. Born July 16, 1943, in Manhattan, NY, Rod was the son of Mary Garland Spencer Jonas and Roderick Norman Brown.

Rod had more than 40 years experience as a professional archaeologist including directing field work, laboratory and data analysis, and report preparation for several historic and prehistoric archaeological sites. He worked throughout the United States, in Mexico, Peru, Hawaii, the Mariana Islands, Palau, Samoa and Africa. In a report he recently prepared to identify a fossil found by a family member, Rod summarized his life as living the dream of every kid who watched wide-eyed every swashbuckling Indiana Jones movie. Not to be overlooked were his amazing life stories, recall of history and facts, most likely facilitated by his incredible IQ being a member of Mensa and the Triple Nine Society.

Rod is survived by his wife Ginger and son, Roderick Alexander Brown (Rocky) currently a student at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. In addition to his wife and son, Rod is survived by sister Peyton Jonas of St. Augustine, FL; sister Deane O'Donnell and husband Michael of Ponte Vedra, FL; and brother Donald A. Brown and wife Pam of Coppell, TX.

Rod, a mentor and best friend to the children in the family, will be missed tremendously by his son along with his nieces and nephews:  Lindsay Murphy and JR Murphy of Salt Lake City, UT; Catherine O'Donnell of Ponte Vedra, FL; Jack O'Donnell of Washington, DC; Kate Brown Warrington of Coppell, TX; and great nephew Trevor Warrington of Coppell, TX.

In short, Rod was an amazing, loving father, husband, brother, uncle and friend to all. He will be in our hearts and thoughts forever.
