Funeral Service for Roberta R. Blair 87 of Holly Hill FL who passed away on Monday July 4th will be held on Saturday July 16th at 2:00 pm at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond. The family will receive friends before the service from 1:00 pm to 2:00pm. Roberta R. Blair was born October 2 1917 in Winona MN. Her father Ray Ames was a farmer her mother Claire Kohl was a housewife. She had one brother Ray and one sister Charlott. Roberta liked to be called ?Bobbie?. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Byron Blair who passed away February 26 2005. She is survived by her daughters Betty L. Belsky of Ormond Beach FL Janet M. Hammond of Plymouth CA and Idella F. McManus of Port Orange FL. She had 8 grandchildren 11 great grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchildren. Bobbie and her husband moved to Alaska in 1950 while Alaska was still a territory. She was employed by the US Postal Services for about 30 years. About 20 of the years she worked in downtown Anchorage post office on 4th Ave. During that period she was honored and given the first ?Most Courteous and Friendly? ?Business Women of the Year ? that were ever given along with a certificate for an amount of cash. The last 10 years they had moved to Kenai Alaska where she delivered mail by vehicle on the North Kenai Road. She experienced Alaska becoming the 49th state as well as living through the 1964 earthquake that at that time was the most devastating earthquake ever recorded on the North American Continent at that time 8.4 on the Richter Scale. She loved fishing boating hunting gardening and swimming. In her youth she was a lifeguard instructor and taught most of the grandchildren how to swim. After retirement she and her husband moved to Grass Valley CA and spent many years there before moving to Holly Hill FL in 1997. She will be missed by her family and friends who all loved her so much.
