Robert C. "Bob" Whitney, 90, of Plantation Bay, passed away on February 28, 2017. He was born in Endicott, New York on November 2, 1926. As a young boy, he moved to Connecticut. He is a graduate of Mt. Herman Prep School in Massachusetts and Brown University. He was a World War II veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Frances. They were married 61 years. He is also survived by his three daughters and their husbands, Susan and David Lamantia, Elaine and Don Hurvitz, and Roberta and Gary Windham, six grandchildren, John, Rachel and Michael Lamantia, Amanda Hurvitz, and Sarah and Katie Windham, as well as his brother David and sisters-in-law Joan and Blanche and brother-in-law Richard Batsavage and his wife Kate.
His professional career spanned many years starting in advertising in New York at LA Whitney and Associates with his father and brother, David. He moved into professional fund raising, first with the American Cancer Society in Connecticut and then as President of Combined Health Agencies for 25 years in Maryland.
In 1998, Bob and Fran retired to Plantation Bay in Ormond Beach, Florida.
Bob's life will be celebrated on March 3, 2017, at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond, located at 733 W. Granada Blvd, Ormond Beach, Florida 32174. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with a service to follow at 12:00 p.m.
