Robert Joseph Tovar , 97, of Glen Cove, NY, passed away on June 20, 2020 at his son's residence in Palm Coast, Florida.  Robert was born on November 26, 1922 in New York, NY to the late Harry and Rebecca Tovar.  He proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a Plane Captain during WWII.  Robert graduated from City College of New York with a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical engineering.  He retired at the age of 62 as a professional engineer working for private industries.  He then worked for The Government Defense Logistics Agency and retired at the age of 74.  Robert volunteered with the City of Glen Cove for 5 years until he turned 80.  He was President of the CCNY Alumni Class of 51'.

He was an international Business traveler, traveling all over the world.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Shirley Arnold Tovar; two sons, Harry and Charles Tovar; sister, Mary Ratner; and a grandson, Justin Tovar.

A Visitation will be held from 10:00am until 11:00am on Thursday, June 25, 2020 at Lohman Funeral Home Palm Coast, 220 Palm Coast Pkwy SW, Palm Coast, FL 32137.  A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday June 25, 2020 at The Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32218.
