Steves Robert "Bob" well known local musician passed away on New Year's Eve at Oak Tree Healthcare Facility after a long illness. He was born in Hawthorne New Jersey where he attended school played tenor sax in the band and graduated high school.
Upon his return from active duty with the U.S. Army in WWII he attended New York University where he studied the Schillinger System of Musical Composition and attended the Julliard School of Music where he studied clarinet.
After coming to Daytona Beach in 1950 he became involved in the Local Musicians Union played in many bands in and around the area and led his own group "The Bob Grant Trio" and played in many concerts at the Bandshell the Casements and clubs.
He was preceded in death by his second wife Betti and is survived by his first wife Marilyn who was his caregiver for two years until his illness required the care of a professional facility. Other survivors include his son Mark Steves Grandson Curt Steves granddaughter Alicia Steves great grandson Noah Steves seven step-children including Andrea Orloske and Lloyd Klopfenstein favorite cousin Valerie Hardy.
